Celebrating the relationship between art and nature, Wolf Trap inspires people through music, dance, theater, and visual arts to more fully understand the natural world. In a nationally broadcast speech at the National Press Club in 2006, Wolf Trap President and CEO Terrence Jones announced that the organization planned to go green. Since that time, Wolf Trap has made major reductions in its carbon footprint, energy use, and landfill waste.
By employing a four step approach to greening, Wolf Trap has increased their audience recycling rate by 17%, reduced their carbon footprint 19%, reduced their energy use by 23%, and reduced their landfill waste by 50%. They continue their greening efforts by constantly measuring their progress, and by using the power of the arts to spread the word and educate their audience.
